Frosty pop just pulled back the bedding on a brand new trailer for upcoming fluffy fighter, Pillow Champ. The subversive mix of downing and traditional beat ‘em up ideas was barely announced last month, but now we’ve got a first look at the cushioned carnage in action.
The new teaser provides a glimpse of the unique fighting style developed to go pillow to throw cushion and battle it out. A distinct set of characters each bring their own unique twist to the intense feathered action. A South Asian grandmother, a non-binary nurse, a campground in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Each character’s movement is informed by a specific cultural touchstone. From old time strongman routines to classic Bollywood movies to Muay Thai to Kendo and everything between.
Of course, this all calls back to classics like Street Fighter II, so there’s something familiar to the entire escapade. You’ll even be able to clean a car using only acrobatic pillow attacks, as our ancestors always intended.
