Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 15 lands today, upping the stakes in the Thargoid war against Humanity.
Frontier has dropped an explosive update to space faring sim Elite Dangerous. The new Odyssey update 15 engages maximum thrust and takes players on a trip inside the massive Thargoid Maelstroms. Alongside this explorable addition, the 15th update will add a range of new ship capabilities, dangerous enemy problems, and new missions keep players on the edge and right up out of their seat.
Eight giant caustic gas clouds floated into view after the close of the Azimuth Saga, and now it’s time to dive right in. These anomalies house an unpredictable threat and a dangerous future, but you’ll need to make a few modifications before attempting to inspect them. Players will likely need to fit a new Thargoid Pulse Neutraliser module before entering the Maelstroms. This upgrade prevents a powerful shutdown pulse from affecting humanity’s fleet and allows Commanders to venture into the heart of this new spectacle. It won’t protect you from the masses of Thargoid vessels loitering in the vicinity, however.
Anybody scouring this new region of space should look out for the Glaive, the first Hunter-class Thargoid vessel added to Elite Dangerous. The addition of this weapon to the distinctly alien fleet means that hit and run operations against lumbering Thargoid targets might not be advisable. The Glaive comes packed with countermeasures designed to stop human ships from making a quick getaway, while focusing on speed and aggression. If you’re not looking to explore gaseous anomalies, then Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 15 is also accompanied by some content on terra firma. A new on-foot mission lands where players are directed to assist an abandoned settlement, by restoring power. While rewiring, helping hands will need to fend off a mysterious new variant of Thargoid Scavenger called the Revenant. This is a powerful enemy sentry that requires more than just a straightforward run-and-gun approach in combat.
This is far from the full run down of what’s coming, and players who own a copy of Elite Dangerous on PC and are playing in Live Mode will have access to the wider narrative experience in Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 15 without delay, regardless of whether they own a copy of Elite Dangerous: Odyssey. All on-foot content requires players to own a copy of Elite Dangerous: Odyssey. You can grab your berth in this adventure on Steam, via the Epic Games Store, or via the Frontier Store. Elite Dangerous is available on Xbox, PlayStation, Steam, Epic Games and the Frontier website.
