The Witcher: Monster Slayer, the upcoming on the go game from Spokko is looking for eager early recruits now.
Registrations have opened to test the upcoming augmented reality adventure based on CD Projekt Red’s hit gaming franchise. Players signing up to jump into the world of the Witcher ahead of the full launch of this hack and slash will need to have an Android smartphone on hand and a Google Play account to sign into. Assuming you have those and the will to take down the odd Gigascorpion then you can sign up for the Android soft-launch version of The Witcher: Monster Slayer over on the official website.
Old Monsters And A New Battleground
While not coming out of CD Projekt Red, instead developer Spokko is a mobile division of the Witcher Studio, this new entry in the well known series is equal parts Geralt’s world and ours. We are not expecting to find the famed Witcher in this new title, however. Set long before the famed Witcher walked the land, Monster Slayer puts players in the guise of a Witcher, roaming the vast open world of wherever you happen to be. Much like Pokemon Go and other AR titles, the real world plays host to a wealth of wildlife and puts plenty of unexpected sights in an unexpected location. Unlike the aforementioned pocket monster hit, The Witcher: Monster Slayer finds a range of fearsome creatures running amok, and of course, it’s up to you to take them down.
Initially announced back in August 2020 and now ready for the first wave of Witchers, the success of this new endeavour isn’t a certainty. The Elder Scrolls Blades seemed like a fantastic idea until we logged in for a first swing of the sword. Spokko has, however, promised more than just a click and collect walking sim, with ‘story-driven quests that propel you through epic adventures inspired by The Witcher series. If you’re still undecided, check out the announcement trailer over on Youtube and head over to the official website to sign up for The Witcher: Monster Slayer Early Access, while we log back into the Witcher to get better acquainted with our bestiary.
