Winnie the Pooh Takes a Dark Turn in Hundred Acre Wood

Hundred Acre Wood Announcement

In news of the weird for a Monday morning, a trio of game developers has announced Hundred Acre Wood. If you think that the name sounds familiar, it should. The Hundred Acre Wood is the setting for the beloved children’s series starring Winnie the Pooh and friends. Unfortunately, the property fell into the public domain last year and, since then, has spawned a horror movie and now a “cosmic horror action adventure” game listed as “coming soon” on Steam.

The trailer showcases its first-person shooter mechanics accompanied by screams and more than a few nods to what was once a familiar setting.

What is Hundred Acre Wood

An Otherworldly Power has twisted the Hundred Acre Wood. Discover what has happened to this once peaceful place as you learn the Deep Truths in this first-person action adventure. The world is no longer what it was, but does that mean it is what it seems?

Explore a horrifying, but familiar memory as you learn why the woods have changed, and gather what you need to rescue Christopher Robin from a fate too terrible to imagine. Based on the 1926 Classic “Winnie-the-Pooh” by A. A. Milne, experience a world full of Heffalumps, Woozles, and old friends such as Eeyore, Rabbit, Owl, Piglet, Kanga, and of course Winnie-the-Pooh.

Run, hide, platform, solve puzzles, and shoot as you explore the Hundred Acre Wood’s regions in any order you want. Do whatever it takes to avoid Winnie-the-Pooh as you sneak past the hostile creatures hiding in the darkness. Discover the ruins of a once innocent child’s refuge as you uncover ancient secrets hinting at a reality beyond human comprehension.

We’ll leave you to your memories, but if this “new interpretation” of a beloved children’s series strikes your fancy, you can head to the Hundred Acre Wood Steam page to learn more. Thanks, BluesNews, for shattering my childhood memories.
