Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair Is Coming

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is ready to return a wisecracking bat and a laid back chameleon to our screens. Yooka and Laylee are back in a brand new adventure coming later this year.

The follow up to Playtonic’s first outing of the affable pair has just been announced and this brand new adventure will arrive on Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, and PC. The latest outing challenges our heroes to take on a series of challenging 2D levels and explore a 3D overworld as they set out on their quest. Featuring the same vibrant animation we’ve come to expect from the Staffordshire developers. The upcoming game doesn’t just feature the return of Yooka and Laylee. The dastardly Capital B is back too with the most dastardly and cunning Impossible Lair. It is up to both Yooka and Laylee to run, jump, roll, and smash their way through a range of well-timed environmental obstacles, enemies, and puzzles. Players must utilize the abilities of both protagonists if they want to make it all the way through this new maze and rescue Queen Phoebee’s Royal Beettalion Guard from each level. You can check out a snippet of the new escapades in the announcement trailer below.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible lair will be published by Team 17, just as the original Yooka-Laylee title was. While the team’s first adventure was well received when it hit the Nintendo Switch lately, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. The throwback and spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie received mixed reception after it smashed its initial Kickstarter and launched back in 2017. Opinions have softened, however, since a number of changes hit the game. Now we’re looking to see if the upbeat tempo, cute animation, and rare talent at Playtonic can craft a game that embraces our old school leanings with modern sensibilities. Keep your eyes peeled for more information on this title as E3 hits or check out the official steam store page for more details on Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair.
