Black Voyage Games is celebrating #TurnBasedThursdayFest with a new Lost in the Open Steam demo. Players can experience a vertical slice of the upcoming tactical RPG’s story and check out its tactical gameplay. Developers are keen to tell players that out-maneuvering and flanking one’s enemies is key to success in the game. The demo is available through Monday, April 8th.
Features include
- Challenging Turn-based Combat: Lost in the Open is designed to be a challenging experience. Enemies will pull you out of position, lure you into traps, and work as a team to flank you. Position your units to create an impenetrable frontline, but remember to protect your flanks and, most importantly, your king!
- Plan Your Route Wisely: Each node you encounter will offer a narrative choice: do you engage in risky combat or take a small bribe? Do you help a stranger by giving them a chance for a random reward and to be tricked? Furthermore, Strathaian royal guards are in constant pursuit. You will need to navigate the world strategically so as not to fall into the grasp of your pursuers.
- Ration Your Resources: Defeating enemies, aiding strangers, and trading with merchants will allow you to unlock new traits and abilities and upgrade your equipment. Flank your enemies with devastating blows, slash through multiple foes at once, or provide your battlefield allies with a powerful buff. You’ll need to forge the recruits you come across into hardened, loyal bodyguards to survive.
- Upgrade Your Party: Spend gold collected through battle and exploration to upgrade your troops’ weapons and armor. Gain experience from battles to acquire powerful skills and perks.
- Lead Your Party: Distribute resources among all units? Or focus and protect a few? At each juncture in the world, you will have half a dozen locations to choose between, so do so wisely.
- Overcome deadly and difficult decisions
- Challenging and intricate tactical combat
- Outwit a large roster of enemies
