New World Dabbles In Barnacles & Black Powder

New World has just launched a brand new Expedition for Amazon’s own MMORPG, called Barnacles & Black Powder.

Available right now, this new addition to the fantastical world of Aeternum is just the latest edition to Amazon’s very own MMORPG. The Barnacles & Black Powder is an adventure that adds a new challenge to the tranquility that has likely descended across a multitude of servers, with the arrival of despicable Admiral Blackpowder and his dastardly crew. It’s up to players to venture out into the wilderness cut down these miscreants, and take down this troublemaker.

The free content update includes a total of three additional Mutators. Instead of the same repetitive run every single time, each Expedition run could change in the following way:

• Icebound: Icebound features mutations that deal Ice damage, apply slow, and spawn glacial crystals with area effects.
• Oppressive: Enemies gain powerful abilities like mana drains and zones of silence, which prevent ability usage for a short period of time.
• Frenzied: This variant applies Curses to players that dodge. Curses stack up and deal damage over time. When Frenzied reaches 3 stacks, it detonates. This explosion deals additional damage to the player and leaves an elemental damage area of effect.

Anybody looking to take on this blight on the island will need to head over to the Cutlass Keys, found on the east of the world map, then return once complete. Rewards can be found upon your successful return, including various loot and renown. Amazon haven’t actually detailed any specific drops in this instance, so you’ll have to head in to find out what dangers and treasure awaits.

The latest update to New World comes barely a breath after the Summer Medleyfaire update arrived, adding musical instruments and plenty of other extra tweaks, but mostly a Mandolin. To check out more, check out the official blog post now.
