Jagex has just unveiled a new spin off for its massive MMORPG franchise, with news of an upcoming Runescape Kingdoms: Shadow of Elvarg boardgame, coming to Kickstarter.
After trailing the incoming board game early in 2022, we now have a name and an upcoming crowdfunding campaign. Due to start this year, the Runescape Kingdoms: Shadow of Elvarg boardgame Kickstarter is a brand new official spin off for Jagex’s massive MMO. After porting to mobile in 2021, players will be able to grab a dice bag and some impressive tabletop minis to recreate Gielinor on another new format.
Built and brought to life by industry veterans Steamforged Games, the team behind the Resident Evil board game, this is the very first Runescape board game and will unfold as a co-operative campaign for one to five players and should be inviting to all. Rather than introduce a stacked rule book, this tale is built around narrative immersion and plunges players into the kingdoms of Asgarnia and Misthalin for their very own quest. New and old heroes of this fantasy world can still choose their abilities, select what skills to max, and craft the best gear. Along the way they can slay ferocious monsters, crafting awesome gear, or gathering eggs to bake something special. There are plenty of side quests and things to do while you roll through this new take on a classic series.
While we don’t yet know what Runescpae Kingdoms: Shadow of Elvarg will cost fans or all the pledge rewards, we do know that Steamforged will launch RuneScape Kingdoms: Shadow of Elvarg on Kickstarter later this year. To be notified when the campaign launches, follow the Kickstarter here.
