Formula Retro Racing: World Tour an old school high octane racer from developers Repixel8 and CGA Games, is heading to Kickstarter.
After pulling up to the grid with an initial announcement in 2022, Formula Retro Racing: World Tour is shifting into gear with a ton of bad racing puns and a new Kickstarter campaign. Rather than race into early access now or release kart-sized skirmishes, the team behind this upcoming title is aiming to expand the original scope with your help.
Why Kickstarter
Launching February 1st, the Kickstarter will have an overall campaign goal of £10,000 ($12,369 / €11,423) and will be used to add a ton of features to a game that should already have all the core components in place. Think of it like adding go faster stripes and a big old wing to your Golf GTI, but better. The extra hard cash pledged by supporters is going to be used to add online multiplayer, new content created from backer suggestions, and an expansion of the game’s new VR mode. While there might be more, that likely depends on a strong finish for the team.
Formula Retro Racing: World Tour is already slated to hit PC as an Early Access title, via Steam. Taking the same sort of wild modern retro aesthetics that blazed across Hotshot Racing, and channeling the polygonal glory days of early racing sims, this ode to 90s arcade racing looks like a ton of fun. With a cluster of cars, four distinct game modes, and a ton of tracks already listed, we’re keen to get underway. Anybody interested can check out the early demo with full VR compatibility before putting down money to go fast in New York, Tokyo, and more.
