If you thought you’d seen everything when Food Wars mixed the shonen battle anime with delicious dining experiences then you might want to sit down for this course. Brand new free to play RPG Food Fantasy has opened pre-registration for its mix of tactical turn-based management and food combat.
Coming to iOS and Android, Food Fantasy is a concept that’s come so far out of left field that I’m still having trouble wrapping my head around it. Published by Elex, responsible for titles like Love Nikki and Clash of Kings, Food Fantasy is set in a land of myth and legend where the arrival of fallen angels threatens the peace of the realm. When the rise of Gluttony and Binge disturb this tranquil world, newly awakened food spirits rise in response and it’s up to you to wield their power and restore the balance, through cooking! Building and managing a world-class restaurant, collecting food souls, combining their flavors, and battling evil are just some of the activities in this RPG.
While I shouldn’t be surprised at the idea of mixing genres, its become a theme of the seasonal anime culture that exists now, I’m still a bit perplexed by the idea of a restaurant, food-based, anime-inspired, high fantasy, tactical mobile RPG with fully anthropomorphized and voiced foodstuff.
