Spacelines from the Far Out, the space commerce and transport sim just got a thorough once over thanks to the team at Space.com.

A comedic spoof on the future of space travel might not be as outlandish as you think. Ex NASA employee and space historian Rod Pyle just ran an educated eye over Spacelines from the Far Out. Published over at Space.com, the comparison of Systone Games’ own intergalactic expedition and the likes of Richard Branson’s own space farting missions takes a look at the likes of power supplies, thrust, craft composition, and more.

Rod is a noted space historian and author, having worked with NASA at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the Johnson Space Center. His expertise in near-earth transport and the future developments in long-term exploration uncover some of the differences between the battery-powered game craft and NASA’s Kilopower reactor project. While the real-life power requirements might be simplified somewhat, there’s also a deeper look at how in-game pressures to manage safety and profit are already a real-world concern for the big players today.

While Spacelines from the Far Out might not be the calculus nightmare that makes Kerbals a realistic projectile program, the topics covered by this comic book space race are definitely worth reading about. You can check out more about this bright new future in the final frontier in our review or over on the official website now.
