The Steam Next Fest Homeworld 3 Demo is called War Games and it’s available now.
There’s a Homeworld 3 demo but this sampler is something a little different than we expected.
Unless you’ve been hiding your Steam Deck Under a rock, you can’t help but notice there’s a Homeworld 3 Steam Next Fest demo. War games is a slice of upcoming strategy Homeworld 3, with a little bit of a twist for fans of the iconic RTS franchise. Taking the chaos of roguelike encounters and mashing it into the Homeworld experience, this new taste battle commands fleets through a series of three randomized combat challenges. Commanders who successfully manage their fleets and navigate these objectives are rewarded with Artifacts which can be used to augment ships, carry on the battle, and keep the experience fresh.
War Games is just one of the gameplay modes that will come into dock for the full launch of Homeworld on 8 March 2024. When it arrives across Steam and PC, Homeworld 3 will continue the epic galaxy s[panning sci-fi experience that blasted onto desktops back in 1999. Expanding beyond the top-down dimensions of classic battle sims, this mix of management and full 3D space strategy was game changing. While things have moved on, and the specifications are a little more demanding now, the same core gameplay means we’re already interested.
With players pretty pumped to take on a mysterious new threat to the galaxy, duke it out in PvP mode, or even go co-op in the War Games, this taster for what’s to come is getting plenty of play time right now.
